Social media network Instagram is set to host an event for non-fungible token (NFT) creators as it looks to help content creators grow their audience
Facebook-owned social media platform Instagram will host a three-day program dubbed Creator Week designed to help NFT artists grow their audience. This is the first professional development event series by Instagram designed to help creators get more followers.
According to Variety, the Instagram Creator Week will take place between 8 June and 10 June. It is strictly by invitation, and roughly 5,000 creators from the United States will attend. “The Facebook-owned service also plans to have global programming with Instagram Creator Week events happening virtually in France and other European markets,” the report added.
NFTs have become popular in the art and entertainment world in recent months. Instagram will focus on the new technology and how content creators can leverage it. NFT artist Sean Williams has received an invitation to be at the event, but doubts Instagram’s intentions are as pure as they make out.
He tweeted that the social media platform will use the event to understand NFTs, with a view to building an NFT platform.

Instagram VP of global partnerships Charles Porch commented that the goal of the Creator Week is to help content creators build their community and help them grow their businesses. “They have told us they need more information on how to do that, not just from us, but from other creators,” Porch added.
The social media platform has put together a wide range of activities during the event. These include: How to Start a Podcast, How to Supercharge Your Community (e.g., raising money for nonprofits), How to Break Into Entertainment, Media Training 101, How to Get Discovered on Instagram (a panel with industry execs), Fund My Merch Line, and more.
Media companies have been entering the NFT space in recent months. So far, TIME Magazine and Forbes have all launched NFTs, while comic book developer DC Comics has also shown interest. With the unique nature of NFTs, more companies could enter the sector in the coming months.
